Our recent webinar hosted by the FENS Northern Europe Networking Task Force on 11 March explored the challenges and opportunities of harmonising dietary survey data across Europe, which is essential for shaping effective nutrition or public health policies.

Three expert speakers shared insights:

• Dr Yashvee Dunneram (Newcastle University, UK) highlighted the difficulties in aligning dietary intake methodologies across populations and proposed standardization approaches.
• Dr Frederik Moller (Statens Serum Institut, Denmark) discussed integrating consumer food purchase data with dietary surveys to better analyze consumption and public health trends.
• Heli Reinivuo (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland) presented on “National Surveys from Independence to Harmonization across Countries.

The session concluded with an interactive panel discussion, fostering valuable conversations on data integration strategies.
